College helps launch the Level Three Certificate in Youth Work

 Over the past academic year YMCA Wales Community College has been working in partnership with Agored Cymru to develop the Level Three Certificate in Youth Work.

On the 8th and 9th July 2010 YMCA Wales Community College and Agored Cymru launched the Level Three Certificate in Youth Work at events in the South and North of Wales.

In South Wales learners attended the launch and certificate presentation at the Coal Exchange in Cardiff Bay with speeches from Janet Barlow CEO of Agored Cymru, Margaret Jones and Huw Lewis Assembly Minister for Children.

Learners from across South Wales were presented with their Level Three Certificates and were given the opportunity to celebrate their achievements.

In North Wales learners attended the Legacy Royal Victoria Hotel in Llanberis to celebrate their achievements. To mark the launch of the Certificate speeches were heard from Janet Barlow, Margaret Jones, Roy Owen Gwynedd Portfolio Leader, Alled Roberts, PJ Richards from Ynys Mon and Hywel Williams MP.

The events marked the official launch of the Agored Cymru qualification following the YMCA Wales Community College input in both creation and development across the previous academic year.

It is hoped the the new qualification will help create a cohearent progression route into Youth Work and higher education.
